Pakistan’s former cricketer, Wasim Akram, has revealed why he does not take the job of Pakistan cricket team’s head coach.
He said that people misbehave a lot with the coach and gave an example of Waqar Younis.
Wasim Akram said, “When I see Pakistani coaches, including Waqar (Younis), who has been a coach multiple times, and how people misbehave with them, I realize that I wouldn’t be able to tolerate such disrespect towards me.”
However, he said that whenever the Pakistan team has a tournament coming up and they set up a camp, he will spend time there. “This is something I can do, but at this age, I cannot tolerate such humiliation. Anyway, you guys already disrespect a lot because, after all, we are the ones who are ill-mannered,” he added.
Wasim Akram as a coach
Akram coached Islamabad United during Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2016 and 2017. He was also the bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from 2010 to 2016.
The current coach of Pakistan cricket team is Aqib Javed.
Pakistan ended the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy tournament at the bottom of Group A with a point after their last match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain in Rawalpindi.
Currently, there are reports that Pakistan’s top players, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah are likely to be dropped from the squad for the team’s tour of New Zealand next month.
