US State Department official to visit Pakistan next week

US State Department’s Senior Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs, Eric Meyer will come to Pakistan from April 8 to 10.

The delegation led by Eric will participate in the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum, which is a two-day global event designed to catalyse investment, drive policy action and showcase innovation.

According to the State Department, the delegation’s visit aims to advance US interests in the vital minerals sector.

Eric Meyer will also meet with senior officials in Pakistan to increase opportunities for US business companies in Pakistan and deepen economic ties between the two countries.

US State Department about travel ban

The development has come at a time when there are speculations that the US may impose a travel ban on Pakistan. The possibility of blanket travel ban was dismissed by multiple Pakistani leaders; however, Pakistan may still face strong visa restrictions.

Earlier, US State Department’s spokesperson for Urdu and Hindi-speaking audiences around the world, Margaret MacLeod spoke with Azaad Siasat in an exclusive interview in which she said that no final decision has been made.

Speaking on Pak-US relations, Mcleod stated: “I can’t say that there is any particular problem in the relationship between Pakistan and the United States.”

She further remarked that the State Department and other offices already have a robust screening and vetting process for all visa applicants/
