WEBDESK: The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a major contract to develop its next-generation stealth fighter, the F-47, on Friday. This new aircraft will replace the aging F-22 Raptor and is designed to work alongside uncrewed drones in future combat missions.

“Nothing in the world comes even close to it, and it’ll be known as the F-47. The generals picked a title, and it’s a beautiful number, F-47,” said Trump at the White House.

“After a rigorous and thorough competition between some of America’s top aerospace companies, the Air Force is going to be awarding the contract for the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) platform to Boeing,” Trump said in televised remarks in the Oval Office.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the F-47 will play a crucial role in strengthening U.S. air power for years to come. While the exact value of the contract remains undisclosed for security reasons, it marks a significant win for Boeing fighter jets, further solidifying the company’s position in the defense industry.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking alongside Trump, said the new aircraft “sends a very direct, clear message to our allies that we’re not going anywhere, and to our enemies that … we will be able to project power around the globe unimpeded for generations to come”.

This contract comes at a crucial time for Boeing. The company has faced recent challenges, including labor strikes and safety concerns with its civilian aircraft. However, the development of the F-47 highlights Boeing fighter jets’ continued importance in military aviation and advanced defense technology.

The F-47 will feature state-of-the-art stealth capabilities, advanced weapon systems, and enhanced speed and maneuverability. The integration of uncrewed drones alongside Boeing fighter jets marks a major shift in modern warfare strategies, emphasizing automation and precision.

Boeing’s success in securing this contract reinforces its long-standing partnership with the U.S. military. With the development of the F-47, Boeing fighter jets will remain at the forefront of aerial defense, shaping the future of combat aviation.

As the project moves forward, more details about the F-47’s capabilities and production timeline are expected to be revealed. This next-generation aircraft is set to redefine U.S. air superiority, ensuring Boeing fighter jets continue to lead in innovation and military power.
