Summer holidays 2025 in Punjab may begin earlier than usual as Th Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has written a letter to the Education Department, recommending changes in school timings and the possibility of starting summer vacations earlier due to the risk of a heatwave.
According to the PDMA, the letter has been sent to both the School Education Department and the Higher Education Department. The letter advises that school hours be revised and that an announcement be made regarding early summer holidays in case of extreme temperatures.
The PDMA has also sent letters to commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab, outlining precautionary measures in view of the heatwave warning.
However, the dates for the summer vacations are not confirmed, and the dates and duration of the holidays will be confirmed after the issue of the summer holidays notification from the relevant department.
Summer dress code for Punjab schoools
Earlier on Wednesday the Punjab School Education Department (SED) issued new guidelines regarding the implementation of the summer dress code in schools across Punjab. The dress code will remain in effect until September 15.
Under the new summer dress code, students are allowed to wear light, cotton clothing. But the department has laid down rules: no makeup, no jewelry, no flashy clothes, and no silk fabric will be permitted. These are intended to keep students comfortable, modest, and concentrated on their studies.
