The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday announced three-day Eid holiday, from March 31st to April 2nd. The three-day Eid holiday by SBP means that all the banks across Pakistan will remain closed for four consecutive days from Sunday to Wednesday.
“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed from 31st March to 2nd April, 2025 (Monday to Wednesday) being public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr,” read the notification issued by SBP.
The closure of banks for long days will create difficulties for people to perform financial transactions, and it can delay their financial matters, as the holidays are in the last days of the month, usually in the days when people perform most of the financial transactions.
The ATM machines in Pakistan also run out of cash during Eid days because of the load on the machines. People take out cash, usually for giving Eidi, a tradition observed on Eid.
Separately, SBP has announced that new currency notes will be available for Eid 2025, which silenced speculations that there would be no new banknotes distributed this year
A three-day Eid holiday from March 31 to April 2 has been announced by the federal government. The Sindh government has announced Eid holidays in addition to the federal government. The Sindh government has officially announced that public and semi-government offices will be closed on Monday, March 31, through Wednesday, April 2, in observance of Eid.
