WEBDESK: The Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces will present the budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 today in their respective Provincial Assemblies.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance Aftab Alam Afridi will present the budget in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly at three in the afternoon.
The Sindh government, led by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), will also present its budget for the financial year 2025-26 today, on Friday, during a session of the Sindh Assembly.
As per sources, the total budget is expected to exceed Rs 3,400 billion. A rise in government employees’ salaries between 10 to 20 per cent is likely to be announced, along with a proposed increase of Rs 5,000 in the minimum wage for labourers.
In Sindh, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who also holds the portfolio of finance will present the budget in the Sindh assembly in Karachi at three in the afternoon.
There are also expectations that salaries for members of the Sindh Assembly will be revised upwards. In addition, the budget is likely to include 481 new development schemes for the upcoming year.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will also unveil its budget today. The overall size of the KP budget stands at Rs 2,070 billion, with Rs 114 billion reserved for development work.
Punjab’s budget will be presented on Monday.
