The 26th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Captain Karnal Sher Khan (Nishan-e-Haider) is being observed today.
He lost his life during Kargil War on July 5th and kept fighting till his last breath.
He is remembered as the “Lion of Kargil”. The main event for Shaheed Captain Karnal Sher Khan will be held at his mausoleum in Swabi.
He was awarded Pakistan’s highest military honour, the Nishan-e-Haider, for his exceptional valour in the Kargil War.
For this courage, Indian Brigadier Pratap Singh personally praised him.
Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Naval Staff and the Armed Forces of Pakistan have paid tribute to Shaheed Captain Karnal Sher Khan on his martyrdom anniversary.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said his supreme sacrifice reflects the spirit of selflessness and devotion to duty that defines Pakistan Armed Forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also paid tribute to him.
In a statement, he said Shaheed Captain Karnal Sher Khan displayed unparalleled bravery, courage and valour on the Kargil front.
He said that he set such an example of loyalty to the homeland, sense of duty and fearless sacrifice in the defence of the country which will be remembered forever.
His legacy continues to live in the hearts of the people of Pakistan and serves as a guiding light for our future generations.
The statement reaffirmed the resolve of our armed forces to defend the homeland against all threats.
