Angry citizens on Wendesndya set on fire at least seven dumpre trucks ind ifferent parts of Karachi, in reuslt of the incidenf of motorcyclists hitted by a young dumper-tuck driver. The accident took place when the dumper truck was coming from the Nagan Chowrangi flyover and hit two motorcyclists, who sustained minor injuries.
An eyewitness reported that some people blocked the dumper truck by parking their motorcycles in front of it. However, the driver managed to run over the motorcycles while attempting to flee. In the chaos, the crowd managed to catch the driver and gave him a beating.
Karachi Dumper Association
Dumper Association leader Liaquat Mehsud while talking to media has claimed that 11 of his vehicles were set on fire. While speaking at Powerhouse Chowrangi demanded that those responsible for torching the dumpers be arrested. He further stated that no one was injured in the dumper truck accident, questioning, “If someone was injured, then where are they? They should be brought forward.
Truck Drivers Protest
The truck drivers have started protesting against the torching of seven dumper trucks. The drivers overturned trucks filled with garbage and stones near Al-Asif Square in Sohrab Goth. Due to the protest, both tracks of the M-9 Motorway are closed, causing heavy traffic congestion and long queues of vehicles.
Governer Sindh Kamran Tessori
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has expressed concern over the torching of dumper trucks following a traffic accident in Karachi. The governor also voiced concern over dumper drivers blocking roads by dumping garbage.
