Mukhtar appointed DG FIA, Waqaruddin Syed to head National Cyber Crime Agency

The federal government has appointed Raja Riffat Mukhtar, a Grade 21 officer of the Police Service and the Inspector General (IG) of Highways and Motorway Police, as the Director General (DG) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

According to the official notification issued by the government, Raja Riffat Mukhtar will now serve as the DG FIA.

Prior to this appointment, he was performing his duties as the IG of Motorway Police.

The notification further states that Waqaruddin Syed, a Grade 20 officer of the Police Service, has been appointed as the DG of the National Cyber Crime Agency. He previously served in the FIA.

“With the approval of the Federal Government, Mr. Waqar-ud-Din Syed, a BS-20 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, presently serving in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), is transferred and posted / appointed as Director General, National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), under Interior Division, in terms of Section 29 (3) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 amended vide Section 6 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Act, 2025 and under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, with immediate and until further orders,” read the notificaiton issued by Cabinet Secretariat Establishment Division.
