WEBDESK: According to the latest travel advisory circulated by Saudi Aviation authorities, Umrah visa holders will not be allowed to enter Saudi Arabia after the 15th of Shawwal, an important date in the Islamic calendar.
Airlines have been strictly instructed to follow this rule. If any airline is found violating it, legal action may be taken against them. This decision is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader plan to streamline religious travel and reduce crowding at airports ahead of Hajj.
The advisory specifies that passengers holding Umrah visas must not be permitted to board flights to Saudi Arabia beyond 15 Shawwal of each Islamic calendar year.
“Airlines must not issue boarding passes to Umrah visa holders attempting to travel after this date,” the Saudi aviation notice said. “Violations will be addressed under Saudi Civil Aviation Law.”
The Saudi Ministry of Health has also issued a reminder to Umrah visa holders to ensure they are properly vaccinated. Recommended vaccines include those for seasonal influenza and other common illnesses. These health guidelines are designed to protect pilgrims and support the Kingdom’s efforts in ensuring a safe and organized pilgrimage experience.
This update comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to modernize and regulate its religious tourism system. Every year, millions of Muslims travel to perform Umrah and Hajj, and the Kingdom is working hard to improve the experience for all visitors.
Travel agents and pilgrims are urged to stay informed about the new rules and plan accordingly. Airlines have been instructed to update their systems and notify travel agents accordingly. Saudi officials added that the directive would be reviewed annually based on operational needs and seasonal planning.
