Bollywood actor Salman Khan recently opened up about the challenges he faces when working with younger actresses, especially regarding the ongoing debate about age gaps in the film industry. He made these remarks while promoting his upcoming movie Sikandar at a press event on Wednesday.
Salman mentioned that while he is keen to collaborate with new talents such as Ananya Panday and Janhvi Kapoor, public perception around age differences makes it difficult. “If I express interest in working with them, people start talking about the age gap,” he said, acknowledging that this has become a point of criticism.
Despite these obstacles, Salman is determined to continue supporting younger actors. He explained that his intention is to give them valuable opportunities. “I work with them thinking it’s a chance for them to grow, and I plan to keep doing that,” he added.
The Tiger 3 star also shed light on why Bollywood has seen fewer multi-starrer films lately. He believes that actors today are more insecure about sharing screen space. “I once suggested a film with a large ensemble cast, but none of the actors from the younger generation were willing to work together,” Salman revealed.
Reflecting on his own experience, Salman said the industry used to be more collaborative. “Back in the day, we didn’t mind doing films with multiple actors. It was all about combining fanbases and making a hit movie, and in the process, we would become friends. Nowadays, things have changed.”
When asked about the significant 31-year age difference between him and his Sikandar co-star Rashmika Mandanna, Salman responded confidently, saying, “If the actress has no problem with it, then others shouldn’t be concerned either.”
This interview comes as Salman gears up for the release of Sikandar, which is expected to hit cinemas soon.
