WEBDESK: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has fined eight players for breaching the code of conduct during recent series. Among them, Aamer Jamal received the heaviest penalty of Rs1.3 million for making a political statement, while others were fined for violating curfew rules and arriving late at team hotels.
Aamer Jamal’s Political Controversy
Aamer Jamal was fined after wearing a cap with the number ‘804’ during an interview in the first Test against England. The number is linked to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s prisoner ID at Adiala Jail, which led to the PCB viewing it as a political statement.
The PCB has strict policies against political involvement in cricket, and Aamer Jamal’s action was considered a violation of those rules. This fine has sparked debate among fans, with some supporting the decision and others criticizing the PCB for being too strict.
Other Players Fined for Misconduct
Four more cricketers—Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi – were penalized for violating curfew regulations (from Rs500,000 to Rs1 million) during the team’s white-ball series in South Africa.
- Late Arrival at Team Hotel – Three players were fined Rs500,000 each during Pakistan’s white-ball tour of Australia.
- Curfew Violations – Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi were penalized for breaking curfew rules during the South Africa tour.
PCB’s Response and Pakistan’s Poor Performance
The PCB has defended its disciplinary actions, stating that it aims to maintain professionalism within the team. These fines come after Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, where they failed to win a single match.
With growing concerns over discipline and on-field results, Aamer Jamal and the rest of the team will need to stay focused as Pakistan prepares for future international fixtures.
