The dead bodies of eight Pakistanis killed in Iran expected to arrive today (Wednesday).

Authorities in Taftan said they had completed all preparations to receive the bodies and facilitate their onward transport to the victims’ hometowns. They added that the Pakistani consulate in Zahedan had informed them the bodies were expected to arrive on Wednesday (today).

The Pakistanis killed in Iran hailed from small towns in the Bahawalpur district of South Punjab. They were all tied up and then shot dead.

The tragic incident took place last week. The banned group Balochistan National Army (BNA) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

PM Shehbaz expressed deep sorrow and grief.

“Terrorism remains a grave threat to the entire region,” PM Shehbaz said in a statement, urging neighbouring countries to formulate a joint strategy against extremism.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had sought a joint response against the attackers. “Pakistan strongly condemns the inhumane and cowardly killing of its nationals in Iran. We hope for the Iranian side’s full cooperation in investigating the matter and in the timely repatriation of victims’ remains,” it said in a statement on Sunday.
