WEBDESK: This year, there is a strong possibility that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on the same day.

According to meteorologists, the chances of moon sighting in Saudi Arabia on March 30 are low, meaning the country may complete 30 days of fasting and celebrate Eid on March 31. Meanwhile, Pakistan is also expected to sight the Shawwal moon on March 30, making March 31 the likely date for Eid-ul-Fitr.

Usually, Pakistan observes Eid a day after Saudi Arabia, but this year, astronomical conditions suggest both countries may celebrate together. Religious authorities in both nations will officially confirm the Eid date after moon sighting committees meet.

The holy month of Ramadan in Pakistan started on March 3, 2025, while in Saudi Arabia, the first Ramadan was on March 2, 2025.

The Pakistani federal government has announced a three-day Eid holiday from March 31st to April 2nd. Along with federal government Sindh government has also declared Eid holidays. According to the official notification issued by the Sindh government, public and semi-government offices will remain closed from March 31 Monday to April 2 Wednesday for Eid celebrations.

More updates will follow as moon sighting reports emerge.
