A deadly encounter unfolded on March 24, 2025, when security personnel opened fire on two motorcyclists attempting to infiltrate Bannu Cantt, resulting in one death and the capture of another.
Initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred around 1:15 pm, when the motorcyclists attempted to breach a restricted area, which had been closed to the public for repairs and heightened security measures after a deadly suicide bombing in the area earlier.
Despite repeated warnings, including a whistle and shots fired into the air, the intruders ignored security instructions, speeding through two barriers toward the sensitive location.
The actions were deemed a clear violation of security protocols, consistent with enemy tactics. As a result, security forces were forced to take action, fatally shooting one of the individuals, while the other was apprehended alive.
The local administration expressed sorrow over the incident and confirmed that a high-level, transparent investigation is underway to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
