In an interesting development, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah on Monday announced 30,000 Google Career Certificate scholarships for students of thirty universities across Sindh.

It should be mentioned that this initiative by the Sindh government is an expansion on last year’s scholarship program. Last year, the Sindh government collaborated with 10 public universities to provide 1,500 Google Career Certificate courses to prospective students.

What are Google Career Certificate Courses

The Google offers multiple market competitive skills that can help learners get on the fast track to a competitively paid job in a high-growth field. Learners don’t need relevant experience or a degree to complete this flexible, online job training.

The Google Career Certificate Scholarships program in Sindh universities seek to provide training in project management, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI). The scholarship program also encourages women and students belonging to marginalised communities.

How to get Google Career Certificate Scholarships

The scholarships were officially launched at the Chief Minister House in Karachi. A formal agreement was signed between the Sindh government, Google and a Pakistani-education tech company, Tech Valley.

Only students in specific public universities will have access to Google Career Certificate scholarships in Sindh.

The TechValley.pk stipulates following criteria for applying to scholarships for these certificates:

  • 18+ years old preferably Females;
  • All over Pakistan, preferably belonging from underserved areas (tier-two /three cities);
  • Graduated or in last semester of college/university;
  • Looking for job in next 6 months;
  • Having Laptop & Stable Internet Connectivity

However, it should be highlighted that these criteria are given by the Tech Valley; those universities who will be offering Google certificate scholarships will provide their own criteria to their students in due time.

Sindh CM remarked that skilled workers and digital skills are necessary for the development of the country. He also stated that these scholarships are an investment in Sindh’s youth.
