ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts additional rainfall among strong winds in Islamabad and Rawalpindi along with other national regions from Wednesday evening into Thursday before Friday. The weather conditions will persist while short periods of good weather offset them.
A westerly system controls the weather conditions across upper Pakistan while generating conditions of rainfall combined with powerful winds.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts hilly areas within upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and also in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will receive snowfall. Most areas of Pakistan will stay partly cloudy together with dry conditions while the northern regions will experience rain and winds.
Thursday through Saturday in Islamabad will bring temperatures ranging from 12°C to 14°C until 15°C and 13°C.
The minimum temperatures in Rawalpindi are projected to fall between 13°C to 15°C during Thursday and Friday before increasing to 14°C to 16°C throughout Saturday.
Gusty winds combined with rainstorms have struck Potohar region as well as upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area and Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the previous 24 hours. In Cherat (14mm), Upper Dir (12mm), Peshawar Airport (9mm), Kalam (5mm), Malam Jabba (4mm) rain is recorded. While in Kashmir Muzaffarabad City (7mm), Garhi Dopatta (7mm), Rawalakot (3mm), Kotli (1mm) rain is recorded.
The affected population needs to exercise caution because areas exposed to powerful winds and intense rainfall present the most risk. People who visit the northern regions need to monitor weather reports in order to prevent travel issues.
