WEBDESK: Former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has voiced his frustration over the ongoing turmoil in Pakistan cricket, following a heated dispute between current head coach Aqib Javed and former red-ball coach Jason Gillespie.

The controversy began when Javed criticized Pakistan’s frequent coaching changes, highlighting that nearly 16 coaches and 26 selectors had been replaced in the past two years. He argued that such instability is harming the national team’s progress. In response, Jason Gillespie accused Javed of trying to secure coaching positions and called him a “clown” for allegedly undermining previous coaches.

“I love this quote, to be brutally honest. Jason Gillespie is a wonderful coach, a wonderful man. Pakistan cricket just continues to shoot itself in the foot. It is its own worst enemy,” Mickey Arthur said in an interview.

“They have incredible skill, and yet it’s still so chaotic. It’s really disappointing to see. I thought when they signed Gillespie and Kirsten, they had gone down exactly the right route. Because ultimately, it’s the players who lose out.”

Arthur added, “It’s a jungle out there, and I feel desperately sorry for Gary and Jason.”

Mickey Arthur believes that continuous interference and instability are damaging Pakistan’s cricketing future. He emphasized that the players, and the team as a whole, are suffering because of internal conflicts.

This latest controversy has reignited debates on the need for stability and long-term planning in Pakistan cricket. Experts and fans agree that without a clear direction and consistent leadership, the team will continue to struggle on the international stage.
