Lahore has been chosen as the ECO Tourism Capital for the year 2027, during the sixth Tourism Ministers’ meeting held in Turkiye.
Now, the Punjab province capital will host the “Tourism Capital” in 2027.
According to Turkiye’s Culture and Tourism Minister, the platform of ECO has become a significant platform due to the participation of the countries including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and others.
It is pertinent to mention that it was established in 80s by Pakistan, Turkey and Iran.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, expressed her gratitude for the news.
She said, “The City of Lahore will be the most sought after tourist region in the globe and will owe it as the ECO Tourism Capital 2027.”
“Thanks to our trust and faith to ECO Countries that Lahore will now be shown to the globe”, she added.
Alongside other criteria, the city receiving the award needs to have distinguished beauty, rich heritage, possible sustainable development tourism and great stunning wonders.
