Labour Day 2025: public holiday announced across Pakistan on May 1

WEBDESK: The government of Pakistan has officially declared May 1 a public holiday across the country in the observances of Labour Day 2025. This day is observed every year to show solidarity with the working class and recognise the valuable role that labourers play in the development of the nation.

May 1 Holiday 2025:

The Pakistani federal government through its notification announced closure of public and private offices together with educational establishments from schools through colleges and universities and also markets on May 1.

This decision aligns with global celebrations of International Labour Day and aims to promote awareness about workers’ rights and welfare.

Labour Day 2025

Earlier, the Sindh government had earlier issued its own notification, confirming the closure of all government and semi-government institutions in the province on May 1 of Labour Day 2025. Local councils and administrative offices will also remain shut.

Public Holidays in 2025:

In addition to Labour Day on May 1, 2025, public holidays in Pakistan include Youm-e-Takbeer on May 28, Eid-ul-Azha in June, Ashura in July, and Independence Day on August 14, 2025.
