ISLAMABAD: A sudden and intense hailstorm struck various parts of Islamabad on Wednesday evening, turning the weather chilly and dramatic across the city. The hail, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds, surprised many residents and created slippery conditions on roads.
Dark clouds loomed over Islamabad before heavy rain. The hailstorm was accompanied by strong, dusty winds, making the weather more intense and reducing visibility in some areas.
Earlier today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had predicted rain in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby regions , a forecast that has now come true as rain and hail lash the twin cities.
According to the PMD, intermittent rain, strong winds, and hailstorms are expected to continue in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of the Potohar region over the next couple of days.
Many residents took to social media to share pictures and videos of the white hailstones covering rooftops, roads, and vehicles, calling the weather both unexpected and refreshing.
Islamabad Hailstorm: Poor Drainage in E-11 Causes Urban Flooding
In the E-11 sector, poor drainage and sewerage management led to water accumulation on roads, making it difficult for vehicles to pass and increasing the risk of accidents.
The intense rain and hailstorm in Islamabad caused damage to several vehicles, with reports of car windows shattering due to the force of the hail.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), intermittent rain, strong winds, and hailstorms are expected to continue in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of the Potohar region over the next couple of days. The Met Office has predicted that the spell of rain and hail may persist until Thursday, with further chances of showers and thunderstorms in northern Punjab and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
