Pak Suzuki Motor Company has officially announced it will no longer sell its popular Wagon R model in Pakistan, effective March 11, putting an end to a car that has been a favourite among small families and ride-hailing drivers, including those working for Uber and Careem.

The company confirmed the permanent suspension of bookings for all Wagon R variants after months of speculation. Earlier, only the top variant’s bookings were paused, but now the decision extends to all models. Pak Suzuki has instructed its sales teams to inform potential buyers accordingly.

Introductory price

The Wagon R was first launched in Pakistan in 2014, offering three variants: the VX, priced at Rs899,000, the VXR at Rs1,049,000, and the VXL at Rs1,089,000. Over the years, the company introduced changes, including discontinuing the base VX variant and launching a new AGS variant in 2020, which featured an automated gear shift and an airbag, priced at Rs1,890,000.

As time passed, the price of the Wagon R saw significant hikes. By the latest pricing, the VXR variant was selling for Rs3,214,000, the VXL for Rs3,412,000, and the AGS model for Rs3,741,000. However, despite its popularity in the past, sales of the Wagon R began to decline.

Sales dip

From July 2024 to February 2025, Pak Suzuki sold only 1,608 units of the Wagon R, a sharp drop from 2,285 units during the same period the previous year. In contrast, the company’s other models performed better: 5,295 units of the Suzuki Swift were sold, along with 1,887 units of the Suzuki Cultus, and a massive 28,194 units of the Suzuki Alto during the same period.
