FIA launches investigation against Actor Nadia Hussain under PECA

In a surprising development, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday launched investigation against renowned actor Nadia Hussain under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for her alleged remarks against the agency.

Earlier this month, Nadia Hussain was involved in controversy following her husband’s arrest in a financial embezzlement case. The FIA arrested the actor’s husband, Atif Khan, in the multi-million fraud case last week.

A day earlier, Hussain took to her Instagram account to claim that an individual impersonating as an FIA officer tried to defraud her.

According to her, the impersonator put forth the demand of Rs30 million bribe if she wanted to get bail for her husband.

The alleged impersonator also asked the actor to keep the matter private but the actor became doubtful. She said that she had reported the caller to the FIA while also disclosing that she would approach NADRA officials to ask them about the ease with which people can get her contact information.

However, FIA launched has the investigations against Nadia Hussain over her “baseless allegations.”

FIA spokesperson acknowledged that the suspect contacted the actor asking her for a bribe. He also added that the alleged fraudster used the picture of a senior officer as a display picture (DP) on Instagram.

“Nobody will be allowed to spread baseless propaganda [against FIA] without any evidence,” exclaimed the FIA spokesperson.

Nadia while talking to media has confirmed that the FIA officials visited her at home to inquire about the fraud call and her social media posts about it.

However, she clarified that she had already mentioned in the caption of her post that it was a fraud call.
