Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken urgent notice of the incident about a father’s suicide after his 11-year-old daughter was forcibly married in Dera Ismail Khan.
According to the details, an incident of an 11-year-old girl being sacrificed as a ‘Vani’ came to light in Bagwani North village of Paharpur tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan. The girl’s father Adil, grief-stricken, committed suicide in a state of helplessness after his daughter was sacrificed as a ‘Vani’.
Reportedly, before committing suicide, the father released an audio message in which he named the accused and said that he was sacrificing himself for his daughters.
However, taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur ordered arresting the accused.
According to a report by Azad Digital reporter Adil Waqar, the deceased Adil, was a barber by profession and was the father of 6 daughters. According to the DPO, three accused have been arrested, while a search is underway for a panchayat.
In his audio message, the father said that he cannot let his daughter fall victim to Vani, he is helpless and is sacrificing his life for his daughters.
According to the police, a few days ago, at the wedding of the elder daughter of a barber named Adil of Bagwani North, the daughter of accused Farid was seen talking to the nephew of the barber, on which the accused Farid called Adil to the local panchayat, making it an issue of honour.
The Panchayat fined Adil Hijam’s nephew Rs 7 lakh for talking to the daughter of accused Farid. Despite receiving the fine, a few days later, accused Farid again raised the issue in the Panchayat and asked for respect in return for respect.
The Panchayat forcibly declared Adil Hijam’s 11-year-old daughter as a bride and married her to the son of accused Farid. The girl’s father was forcibly registered with the stamp paper. The deceased Adil found himself helpless and committed suicide.
The police took action after the news of the girl being offered as a bride and the girl’s father committing suicide came to light. Paharpur police have registered their initial report on the matter.
According to the DP and Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, the members of the Panchayat and others will be brought to justice. Initially, three accused have been arrested. The deceased Adil has six daughters and before committing suicide, he named the accused in an audio statement, saying in the message that he was “sacrificing himself for his daughters, goodbye.”
