ISLAMABAD: Footage of women being publicly assaulted by a man, Jamal Nai, outside Islamabad’s F-9 Park went viral causing immense uproar on social media.
In the video, the man could be seen misbehaving with the women inside their car and then brutally assaulting them by pulling their hair as the women scream for help.
The women involved in the incident have allegedly reached a settlement with the suspect and police confirmed that Jamal secured bail. “We have settled the matter with Jamal, and we do not wish to pursue the case further. If the court decides to release or acquit him, we have no objections,” the women said in their statement.
According to details, the women were robbed of 10 tolas of gold jewellery along with Rs2 million cash. It merits a mention that while the videos got viral yesterday; the horrible incident took place on February 23.
Islamabad police confirmed that an FIR was filed against the suspects and immediate action was taken. The police arrested the main suspect, Jamal Nai, while obtaining his physical remand for three days.
The FIR has been lodged under five sections of the PPC — 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 392 (punishment for robbery), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
In the FIR, the woman, Hajra Mushtaq, narrated that she and her daughters were intercepted by Jamal in F-9 Park. She stated that Jamal parked in front of their car and attempted to seize their car as he was carrying a weapon.
“When I intervened and tried to reason with him, Jamal and his friends subjected us to severe physical assault. They dragged me and my daughters by our hair and beat us mercilessly,” the FIR mentions.
