WEBDESK: Elon Musk has threatened to form a new political party in the United States “America Party” if President Donald Trump’s controversial domestic spending bill is passed by Congress.
If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day.

Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.
In a series of posts on his social media platform X, the Tesla and SpaceX chief described the Republican-backed bill as “insane spending”, warning that it would increase the national debt limit by a record $5 trillion. Musk claimed the legislation proved the existence of what he called a “Democrat-Republican uniparty”, accusing both major parties of ignoring the interests of ordinary people.
“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill that we live in a one-party country the PORKY PIG PARTY,” Musk wrote, mocking the bill signed by Trump. “Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people.”
The bill, which includes tax cuts, infrastructure subsidies, and increased defence spending, is currently being debated in the Senate, with lawmakers racing to pass it before the July 4 deadline. It has sparked criticism from both Democrats and some key Republican figures.
Once considered close to the Trump administration, Musk has grown increasingly vocal in his criticism of the former president’s economic decisions. His latest remarks mark the most serious public split between the two since Trump left office.
Musk warned Republican lawmakers of political consequences if they backed the bill, saying: “They will lose their primary next year if it’s the last thing I do on this Earth.”
In response, the White House dismissed Musk’s threats, suggesting his opposition was linked to a proposed removal of electric vehicle subsidies a policy that directly affects his Tesla business. “I think Elon’s a wonderful guy, and I know he’ll do well, always. He’s a smart guy,” Trump told Fox News.
Musk, who once headed the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency under the Trump administration, has long voiced concerns over America’s growing debt and government overspending. He previously hinted at forming a third party, most recently polling his X followers about the idea in early June.
While some political experts say Musk’s plan to launch a new party might not materialise immediately, they believe his rising influence could divide conservative voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
“This isn’t just noise. Musk has significant influence over younger, tech-savvy conservatives,” said Danielle McBride, a political strategist from the Washington Institute. “His disapproval of Trump’s bill could have real consequences for the Republican establishment.”
If created, Musk’s proposed “America Party” would likely focus on fiscal responsibility, reducing government spending, deregulation, and limiting federal control — positions the billionaire has supported for years.
However, critics argue that Musk’s political positions often shift, noting that he has backed a variety of candidates across the political spectrum in the past. His unpredictable involvement in politics has led some to question how serious this latest move will be.
Even so, his comments have reignited debates about the growing influence of wealthy individuals in American politics and their ability to shape public policy.
For now, the fate of Trump’s bill remains undecided, with lawmakers in the Senate working through last-minute amendments before a final vote expected later this week.
