CM Maryam Nawaz to distribute ration cards for 1.25 million

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that the Punjab government will distribute ration cards to 1.25 million on 1 May, 2025.

Maryam Nawaz while addressing a ceremony in Lahore today revealed that her government will issue these ration cards which will help over 10 lac needy people.

She explained that the purpose behind distribution of ration cards is to help cover some of the kitchen expenses of those people.

Furthermore, the Punjab CM also stated that individuals with special needs should register themselves on Punjab government’s social welfare department.

“I know the pain of the families of special people, the state cares for the needy and listens to the voices of the weak,” she added.

Maryam Nawaz also commended performance of provincial minister Sohail Shaukat Butt and his secretary, saying, “Their team made my dream come true.”

The Punjab CM also stated that under the provincial government’s Dhee Rani programme, 2,000 women will be married, affirming, “If the state holds the hand of special people, their difficulties will be eased.”

“I am happy that the direction of power has shifted because now the government itself reaches the doorsteps of the people. A Chief Minister’s job is not to sit in the office but the be among them to serve them,” she said.

She also added, “If the Chief Minister does not share the pain and suffering of the people, then how will anyone else? Three million people were given their rights by knocking on their doors.”

Under the Punjab government’s Apna Ghar Scheme, more than 30,000 houses have been constructed, according to CM Maryam Nawaz.

A Pakistani private earthquake forecasting company, Earthquake Quick news & Research Center (EQQN), has issued a warning under the earthquake prediction Pakistan category, forecasting a strong earthquake in the next week.

EQQN Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shahbaz Leghari while talking to media, remarked, “Pakistan and Afghanistan will experience a 5.4 magnitude earthquake next week, with tremors likely to affect both the northern and southern regions of Pakistan.”

Leghari claimed that his previous predictions were proven true about recent earthquake. Referencing the earthquake on April 12, he claimed, “We have publicly forecasted it, during a press conference in Islamabad on April 7, 2025, the record of which is also available.”
