WEBDESK: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has strongly responded to India’s recent allegations against Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident. In an interview with the BBC on Thursday, Bilawal Bhutto said that India’s actions are emotional and illogical, and that global organisations, including the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), have confirmed that Pakistan has no links to terrorism.

On April 22, terrorists opened fire in Kashmir’s Pahalgam killing 26 people, in the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019.

He highlighted that during his time as Foreign Minister, Pakistan was removed from FATF’s grey list, which clearly showed the country’s commitment to fighting terrorism. Bilawal Bhutto added that India is trying to blame Pakistan without any evidence, and that such baseless accusations have been made before as well.

Talking about the increasing tensions between the two countries, Bilawal Bhutto said that the world knows Pakistan is one of the nations most affected by terrorism and has always stood against it. He also supported the government’s stance on the Indus Waters Treaty, stating that India cannot end the treaty unilaterally. He said any move to block Pakistan’s water would be considered an act of war.

India recently announced several steps in response to the Pahalgam attack, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing Pakistan’s High Commission in New Delhi, and stopping cross-border travel via the Wagah border. Indian authorities also banned Pakistani citizens from travelling to India under SAARC visa rules.

Bilawal Bhutto urged both countries to act wisely and avoid further escalation. He mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already offered a neutral investigation into the Pahalgam incident, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists.
