WEBDESK: A misleading tweet from an Indian social media account was posted about China Pakistan Visa Policy. It falsely claimed that China had removed Pakistan from its visa free countries list.
The post created confusion on the internet and most people viewed it as an effort made to create doubt over the effectiveness of the China Pakistan Visa Policy.
However, Azaad Fact Check, a platform dedicated to verifying misinformation, quickly debunked the claim. It clarified that Pakistan was never included in China’s visa free countries list in the first place. Therefore, it could not have been “removed” as falsely claimed.
Using government Chinese visa documents themselves, Azaad Fact Check concluded that indeed, the policy is not modified and that such a deletion never occurred.
Analysts are of the opinion that such fake news could possibly be to harm relations between China and to Pakistan and confuse the populace. They issue a caveat that untruths about the China Pakistan Visa Policy might be a larger project to create mistrust between the two neighbours.
The users of social media networks have been called upon to be responsible and against disseminating information that is unverified.
Azaad Fact Check reminded users that the China Pakistan Visa Policy remains intact, and that any updates to such agreements come through official diplomatic channels not random social media posts.
