Webdesk: Azaad fact check has identified another attempt at spreading misinformation on social media. An India-based X account has been seen falsely claiming the cancellation of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan JF-17 fighter jet deal.
However, Azaad Fact Check identifies this as a lie, an attempt at spreading panic and confusion among the people. In reality, this deal was made in 2024, and initial deliveries have already been made to Azerbaijan.
In 2025, Azerbaijan increased its commitment again, upping the total value of the deal by phasing in an even larger order of JF-17 aircraft. According to India’s affiliated account, “Side effects of #OperationSindoor Azerbaijan has cancelled the negotiations for buying Chinese Aircraft JF-17. Azerbaijan was negotiating $1.6 billion deal to acquire JF-17 Block III jets, aiming to replace its aging MiG-29 fleet.”

These claims have been found to be completely baseless by Azaad Fact Check and are just another propaganda to create chaos.
In October 2024, media reports confirmed that Azerbaijan has officially brought the JF-17C Block-III fighter jets into active service under a $1.6 billion agreement signed with Pakistan in February that year.
The Defense Post also confirmed that the announcement came from the Azerbaijani president’s office, which shared images of President Ilham Aliyev sitting inside one of the aircraft during a visit to the Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition 2024 in Baku on 25 September.
During his visit, President Aliyev was given a detailed briefing on the aircraft’s features, performance, and operational capabilities by Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Board Chairman Air Vice Marshal Hakim Raza.
That same day, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Iran, Ali Alizada, who previously served in Pakistan, also shared the update on X, highlighting the latest milestone in defence cooperation between the two countries.
