Azaad Fact Check has debunked a false claim made by an India-based X (formerly Twitter) account known as Baba Banaras.

The claim targeted former Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

The viral post stated:

“Do you know that after retirement former Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani had bought an island 🏝️ near Australia in USD 300 million which is equal to 85249680000.00 Pakistani Rupees. If this is calculated to the highest salary of Pakistan Army Chief, he has to work as Pak Army Chief for 340998.72 years without expenditure to save this much money. Where did he get so much money? Island 🏝️ for Pakistani Generals and ‘Mazahab Ka Churan’ along with ‘Aate Ki Line’ for Pakistani Awaam.”

Azaad Fact Check has confirmed that General Kayani does not own any island near Australia. There is no evidence that exists which would suggest such a claim. In fact, this is an old fake news that has been debunked many times.

The handle Baba Banaras is known for spreading misinformation against Pakistan. It has a record of posting false or misleading content about Pakistan.

According to Azaad Fact Check, the claim is part of a wider trend of spreading fake news about Pakistani officials. There is no financial or legal trail linking General Kayani to any island purchase.
