Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has taken full responsibility for the medical treatment of two children who were sent back to Pakistan from India.
The children, who suffer from congenital heart defects, were forced to leave India without completing their treatment due to actions taken by the Indian government in the wake of the Pahalgam false flag operation.
Shahid Ahmed, the father of the children and a resident of Hyderabad, Sindh, strongly condemned the inhumane move by the Modi government. He stated that both his children were born with heart conditions, and he had taken them to India for treatment. “We reached the Indian city of Faridabad on April 21, 2025, and the children underwent medical tests on April 22,” he said.
According to Shahid Ahmed, the doctors had planned the surgeries for April 23. However, on April 24, they received a call from the Indian Foreigners Regional Registration Office ordering them to leave the country within 48 hours.
He added that it had taken him seven years of effort to obtain an Indian visa for his children’s treatment. “Forcing us to return mid-treatment was unethical and inhumane on the part of the Indian government,” he said. “I am deeply grateful to the Army Chief who immediately arranged treatment for my children. At AFIC Rawalpindi, the care they are receiving has exceeded all my expectations.”
Dr Mahboob Sultan from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) stated that the two children, nine-year-old Abdullah and seven-year-old Minsa, are under treatment at the facility. Both children have congenital heart defects, including holes in their hearts and underdeveloped pulmonary arteries. He confirmed that the children would undergo surgeries in phases.
Dr Sultan further noted that in his professional opinion, there is no need to send these children abroad for treatment. “We have successfully performed similar surgeries on many children in the past,” he said.
