Pakistan Railways luxury saloons have been launched for the public that were previously only reserved for VVIPs like the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Regular commuters could not book these luxury saloons previously, as they were specially reserved for high officials. Pakistan Railways has started operations in the luxury saloons for the public. The following are the luxury saloons made available to everyone:
- Prime Minister’s Saloon
- Minister’s Saloon
- Chairman’s Saloon
- CEO’s Saloon
- IG’s Saloon
It should be highlighted that Pakistan Railways remains one of the most used modes of public transportation, particularly for inter-provincial commute.
The Prime Minister’s Saloon is the most luxurious train carriage available, and it will be available for regular travelers.
Routes of Pakistan Railways Luxury Saloon
These exclusive coaches will be attached to trains operating on popular routes such as:
Karachi to Lahore
Lahore to Karachi
Islamabad to Lahore
Lahore to Islamabad
The journey from Karachi to Lahore via train takes around 15 to 17 hours, as the distance between these two metropolitan cities is a lot. The journey is often challenging and tiring, but the luxury suits that have been made available to the public take care of that.
Ticket Prices of Pakistan Railways Luxury Saloons
According to details, the discounted fare for the Prime Minister’s Saloon from Karachi to Lahore is Rs600,000, while from Lahore to Islamabad is Rs150,000.
Apart from this, other salons, including Minister, Chairman, CEO, and IG saloons, charge Rs400,000 from Karachi to Lahore and Rs100,000 from Lahore to Islamabad.
What amenities are available in Luxury Saloons
The decision to open the booking for luxury saloons for the public has been taken on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It was the prime minister’s initiative to make rail travel more inclusive and service-oriented.
The luxury saloons will have amenities like a sitting lounge, a furnished bed, separate bathrooms, on-duty available kitchen facilities, TV, sofas, and even a reading space for avid readers.
It is to be noted that these amenities are usually not available in normal business class tickets in Pakistan Railways, and this is the first time that the public can enjoy their journey in a luxurious way.
