We’re just three months away from the official unveiling of iOS 19, and anticipation is building. As the launch draws near, rumors are surfacing about new features, supported devices, and other updates.
Will your iPhone support iOS 19?
Every year, one of the most pressing questions for iPhone users is whether their device will be compatible with the latest iOS update. Fortunately, 2025 brings good news for many users. According to reports from iPhoneSoft, all devices currently running iOS 18 will also be able to upgrade to iOS 19.
This means that iOS 19 will be supported by the following iPhone models:
– iPhone XR
– iPhone XS and XS Max
– iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max
– iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max
– iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max
– iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max
– iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max
– iPhone 16e, 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max
– iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)
However, it’s important to note that while these devices will support iOS 19, some of its more advanced features, such as Apple Intelligence, may only be available on the latest iPhone models due to hardware limitations.
What’s new in iOS 19?
Major design overhaul
iOS 19 is expected to bring one of the biggest redesigns in Apple’s software history. According to Bloomberg, it will be the most significant update since iOS 7 in 2013, with changes to icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons. The new design will reportedly take inspiration from visionOS, simplifying the way users interact with their iPhones and improving overall navigation.
Siri updates
Apple is also working on streamlining Siri’s performance. Currently, Siri operates through two systems – one for simple tasks like setting alarms and another for more complex commands. iOS 19 aims to merge these systems, enhancing Siri’s speed and responsiveness.
While there were hopes for a more conversational version of Siri this year, reports suggest that this feature may be delayed. Although iOS 18 already offers ChatGPT integration, Apple is working towards developing its own in-house AI with an emphasis on privacy, but this won’t be ready by the time iOS 19 is released.
Camera app redesign
Another significant update in iOS 19 is a redesign of the Camera app, reportedly influenced by the design principles of visionOS. The new layout is expected to streamline controls, offering users easier access to features such as Live Photos, flash, resolution, and frame rate settings. The interface will focus on transparency, allowing users to switch between photo and video modes with minimal effort.
Overall, iOS 19 promises to bring a range of enhancements, though some of the most cutting-edge features may be reserved for newer iPhone models. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the official announcement in June!
