Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to experience continued rainfall, snow

WEBDESK (Azaad English): According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) various regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) along with Peshawar will receive more rainfall and powerful gusty winds. A strong western weather system is currently affecting most parts of the country while it promises to stay active across upper areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts light rain and powerful winds will hit Peshawar along with other Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions both Friday night and Saturday night.

Light rain accompanied by powerful winds will affect Peshawar and the areas including Nowshera and Charsadda together with Swabi, Mardan, Malakand, Bajaur and Abbottabad during this weather system. Several places in Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Swat, Shangla together with Mansehra, Battagram and Buner can expect snow to fall in the parts that reach mountain heights.

Throughout Saturday the weather conditions will become dry with low temperatures predominating across both northern mountainous regions as well as the plains. The morning in Dir, Chitral and surrounding towns will bring minimal amounts of rain along with light snow precipitation.

The cold morning temperatures in Peshawar will stay within 8°C and rise to 10°C on Saturday before descending to 7°C and reaching 9°C on Sunday. The town of Parachinar reached the lowest temperature in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as it dropped to -3°C. Malam Jabba reached -1°C at the same time that Peshawar showed 12°C accompanied by 94% humidity in the morning measurements.

Recent Rainfall and Snowfall

Different areas in KP experienced rain and snow throughout the previous twenty-four hours. Kept within Kakul stood as the primary rain measurement at 38 mm while Balakot followed with 29 mm and next came Upper Dir with 21 mm then Lower Dir at 10 mm and Pattan documented 16 mm. Peshawar city logged 6 mm rainfall but the airport station reported 2 mm rainfall.

The towns of Kalam measured 2.5 inches of snowfall alongside Malam Jabba shutting down 2 inches through its total accumulation.
