WEBDESK: Instagram users around the globe have been reporting a sudden and disturbing shift in their feeds, with violent and NSFW content appearing on their feeds repeatedly – even for those with Sensitive Content Control enabled due to an Instagram algorithm glitch.
This apology came after multiple Instagram users took to other social media platforms to share their concerns about the disturbing content flooding their reels. Some people have claimed that the content has reached even them despite having Sensitive Content Control enabled.
The videos in question, which included disturbing scenes of violence, killings, and cartel-related content, were marked with the “sensitive content” label.
Despite this warning, many of these clips were recommended back-to-back, creating a distressing user experience.
Meta typically removes violent, graphic content or puts a warning label on other sensitive videos. The company also restricts users under 18 from viewing such content.
The Instagram algorithm glitch issue arose on Wednesday when users around the world started complaining that their feeds were flooded with graphic content.
Here’s what users had to say.

In light of the recent Instagram algorithm glitch error, Meta assured users that it had taken corrective measures.
“We apologize for the mistake,” the company said. The company also confirmed that it would continue to work toward enhancing its content moderation efforts to better protect users from inappropriate material.
