Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has launched Grok-3, the latest version of its chatbot, as it looks to compete with top AI models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
The new chatbot is available starting today for Premium+ users on X (formerly Twitter). Additionally, xAI has introduced a new subscription tier called Super Grok, which provides early access to advanced features. This plan is available on the Grok app and the newly launched website Grok.com.
What’s New in Grok-3?
During a live demonstration, Musk said that Grok-3 is more powerful than its predecessor, Grok-2. The chatbot includes a smart search engine called DeepSearch, which helps users with research, brainstorming, and data analysis. Unlike regular AI models, DeepSearch can explain its reasoning when answering questions.
xAI researchers claim that even the smaller version, Grok-3 Mini, performs at a high level compared to other AI models. They also say the chatbot will keep improving daily, with updates rolling out as quickly as every 24 hours.
xAI’s Expanding AI Efforts
To stay ahead in the AI race, xAI is investing billions in data centres and AI training. It has built a massive supercomputer cluster in Memphis, Tennessee, called Colossus, which is said to be the largest in the world.
Recently, Musk and a group of investors offered $97.4 billion to acquire OpenAI’s nonprofit assets, but the offer was rejected.
Musk believes the speed of innovation will decide which AI company wins in the long run. “To know who will win in technology, look at how fast they innovate,” he wrote on X.
With Grok-3’s release, xAI aims to compete at the top level in AI development and bring new innovations to users worldwide.
