Tribute paid to Shaheed Havildar Lalak Jan (Nishan-e-Haider) on his martyrdom anniversary

Field Marshal Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff and the Armed Forces of Pakistan solemnly commemorate and pay heartfelt tribute to Shaheed Havildar Lalak Jan, Nishan-e-Haider.

The army honoured his unparalleled courage, unwavering dedication, and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland during the Kargil conflict.

ISPR said, “On this day in year 1999, Shaheed Havildar Lalak Jan demonstrated extraordinary valour by fearlessly repelling enemy attacks and defended his post despite sustaining critical injuries. Refusing evacuation, he continued to fight until he embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.”

He was awarded Pakistan’s highest military honour, the Nishan-e-Haider, for his exceptional valour in the Kargil War.

The Armed Forces of Pakistan and the nation, remember his sacrifice with immense respect and gratitude. His legacy remains a beacon of inspiration for present and future generations of Pakistan Armed Forces. We reaffirm our resolve to uphold the sacred trust of the martyrs and continue the Shuhada-e-Pakistan mission of defending the motherland with courage, dedication, and honour.

Shaheed Havildar Lalak Jan was martyred on July 7th, 1999 during Kargil War.

On July 5th, the 26th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Captain Karnal Sher Khan (Nishan-e-Haider) was observed.

For this courage, Indian Brigadier Pratap Singh personally praised him.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also paid tribute to him.

In a statement, he said Shaheed Captain Karnal Sher Khan displayed unparalleled bravery, courage and valour on the Kargil front.

He said that he set such an example of loyalty to the homeland, sense of duty and fearless sacrifice in the defence of the country which will be remembered forever.
