Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Kangana Ranaut has faced intense criticism after making insensitive comments and laughing while speaking to the media at a tragedy site in India.
She spoke to the media after visiting Mandi, which has been devastated by a cloudburst.
While talking about the relief work at the disaster site, she remarked, “I do not have any cabinet ministry, just these two brothers of mine with whom I go.”
It is pertinent to mention that Mandi Lok Sabha constituency is one of the four Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Himachal Pradesh state in northern India represented by Kangana Ranaut, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2024.

A devastating cloudburst tore through Talwara village in Parwara panchayat of Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district earlier this week, probably wiping out an entire family of three, leaving a 10-month-old baby girl as the sole survivor.
The infant, Neetika Devi, was found alone in her home by a neighbour, Prem Singh, hours after the disaster struck.
14 people have died so far in ten incidents of cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides in Mandi district, while searches are underway to trace 31 missing, officials said.
The areas most affected by the cloudburst are Pawara, Thunag, Baidshad, Kanda, and Murad, with massive destruction in all these panchayats, where roads, water, and power schemes have suffered considerable damages.
