WEBDESK: Renowned Pakistani actress Maya Ali recently appeared on Nida Yasir’s Ramzan show with her family and cousins and has spoken openly about the pressure she faces for not being married yet. She shared that people often taunt her, especially since her younger brother has already tied the knot.
“I will only get married when I find someone I truly like and feel a connection with,” she said. She added that as Muslims, they believe everything is written in destiny, so marriage will happen when it is meant to. However, she pointed out that people don’t apply the same belief when it comes to marriage and instead keep questioning her about it.
Maya revealed that she often hears comments like, “Your younger brother is married, why aren’t you?” But she believes that marriage is not something to be rushed.
Talking about relationships, she said that with age, people become more realistic. “The excitement of love also fades. When I feel that a good person has entered my life, I will get married,” she explained.
Maya also shared that her mother prays for her marriage in every prayer. However, she emphasized that she will not get married just to please society.
She stated that she wants a life partner who understands and supports her career while also respecting her family, especially her mother. “I will marry a person who understands the importance of a woman and her work. That is every woman’s right,” she said.
Maya also clarified that she has not set a deadline for marriage. “When I find the right person, and my heart tells me it’s time, only then will I get married—and no one will even know until then!” she concluded.
