A bizarre controversy has erupted online after two conflicting menu cards from the high-profile luncheon hosted by US President Donald Trump for Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir, began circulating on social media with Indian accounts leading the charge in spreading questionable claims.

One version of the menu, dated June 18, clearly states that all food served was halal. It includes a goat cheese gateau starter, a main course of rack of spring lamb with jambalaya, and a dessert of nectarine tart with crème fraîche ice cream. At the bottom, the note reads: “ALL FOOD IS HALAL – HOSTED BY PRESIDENT DONALD J TRUMP.”

Soon after, another suspicious menu began doing the rounds — this time listing “non-hilal” dishes. This version, oddly marked “ALL FOOD IS NON-HALAL”, raised eyebrows and seemed tailored to stoke religious sensitivities.

Notably, the second version has been pushed primarily by Indian social media users, many of whom are sharing it without any verification, fuelling what appears to be a deliberate attempt to undermine Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in Washington.

While the authenticity of both menus remains unconfirmed, the pork-heavy version appears dubious and possibly doctored, especially given the official nature of the meeting and President Trump’s warm reception of Field Marshal Munir.

At present, no credible source from the White House or Pakistani side has endorsed either menu, and the incident reeks of yet another coordinated disinformation stunt originating from Indian circles. Further clarification will be published once verified details emerge.
