In an interested development, the popular Meta-owned messaging application, WhatsApp, is reportedly working on a new innovative feature that will allow users to share motion pictures in chats.

The company has launched the new feature in its latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.12 update.

Motion pictures in WhatsApp would be a new feature which the messaging app has never experimented with before.

Unlike traditional pictures, WhatsApp motion pictures are the type of media that captures live movement of subject before and after the image is taken. Simply, the motion picture includes a few seconds of video and audio as well.

Multiple mobile devices have the ability to take motion pictures, including, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and iPhones. However, it is not necessary that every mobile has the same name for this feature in its camera application. In iPhone, the motion picture is commonly known as live photos.

According to details, as the Meta-owned company launches this new feature, users will be able to see a new option that would let them choose between sending a normal photo or live photo.

Users will be able to send the new media in individual chats, group chats and even WhatsApp channels.

It should be mentioned that the feature is currently in development and it is likely to be released in the upcoming WhatsApp updates.

WABetaInfo reported that while capturing motion photos is only supported on select Android smartphones, WhatsApp will allow recipients to see them on an unsupported handset. iPhone users will probably see these motion pictures as Live photos in iOS.
