WEBDESK: WhatsApp has introduced a brand-new feature that makes chatting across languages easier than ever. The new WhatsApp feature allows users to instantly translate messages and channel content directly inside the app.

According to WABetaInfo, the new Whatsapp feature is available to those using beta version 2.25.12.25, with a broader public roll-out expected in the near future.

This new Whatsapp feature enables users to translate messages written in Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Hindi, and Russian directly within the app. However, WhatsApp users will need to download specific language packs – either individually or one that detects and translates multiple languages automatically.

One of the best advantages of this new Whatsapp feature is that translations are done on device, which means that no internet connection is required for the translation to take place.

Notably, this feedback is processed without sending message content to Meta, maintaining WhatsApp user privacy.

Once installed, the translation option can be found within the chat information screen and it can be activated for both individual and group conversations. Similarly, users can manually translate a message by long-clicking on it and pressing, “translate.”

Although the translations may not be perfect, WhatsApp is encouraging users to send feedback to help improve the tool. It’s a clear step toward making global communication more inclusive and user-friendly.
