Weather update: PMD forecasts rain across Pakistan

WEBDESK: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted unsettled weather conditions for Wednesday, with chances of rain, thundershowers, and even hailstorms in several regions of the country.

According to the PMD, Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Islamabad, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of North-East Balochistan will see partly cloudy skies. These areas could experience rain, strong winds, and thundershowers. In some places, hailstorms are also expected.

In the capital city of Islamabad and surrounding regions, the weather will be partly cloudy with chances of rain and gusty winds. Thundershowers and hailstorms may occur in isolated areas.

While most of Punjab will stay hot and dry, a few cities in the upper region will get some relief from the heat. Rain and windy weather are likely in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Talagang, Mianwali, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad. These areas could also experience hailstorms.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PMD predicts rain and strong winds for Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram. Other districts, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Haripur, Kohat, Bannu, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan, might also see windy weather and light rain.

Sindh, on the other hand, will remain hot and dry. No rain is expected in this region today. Southern Balochistan will also face dry and warm weather, though the afternoon may bring strong winds and some rain in parts like Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan, Qila Saifullah, Kalat, Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, and Khuzdar.

In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, partly cloudy skies are expected, along with a chance of rain, strong winds, and thundershowers.

Yesterday on Tuesday people of Islamabad witnessed rainfall, heavy thunderstorms, and strong winds bringing down the rising temperature in the city. Citizens breathed a sigh of relief from the scorching heat as the Islamabad weather experienced 35°C temperature in the peak hours.
