WEBDESK: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a new weather update, predicting rain and thunderstorms in parts of the country, including Islamabad and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), while extreme heat continues to affect southern regions.

According to the latest weather update, rain is expected today in Islamabad, northern KP, Kashmir, the Pothohar region, parts of Punjab, and some areas of Balochistan. The Met Office has also warned of possible heavy rainfall or hailstorms at isolated spots.

In contrast, the plains of Sindh and Balochistan remain under intense heat. The new weather update shows that rising temperatures have caused discomfort for people living in these areas. Coastal regions may experience dusty winds later in the day.

The highest temperature recorded in the past 24 hours was a scorching 50°C in Jacobabad, making it the hottest place in the country. Other high temperatures included:

  • Sibi at 49°C
  • Dadu, Mohenjo Daro, Rohri, Larkana, Nawabshah at 47°C
  • Sukkur at 46°C
  • Hyderabad at 45°C
  • Multan at 44°C
  • Lahore and Faisalabad at 41°C
  • Quetta and Peshawar at 38°C
  • Karachi at 37°C
  • Gilgit at 36°C
  • Islamabad at 35°C
  • Muzaffarabad at 33°C

The PMD stated in its weather update that most districts in Sindh are experiencing very hot and dry weather. The humidity levels, especially in Karachi, are making the weather feel even hotter than the actual temperature.

People are advised to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary travel in heat-affected areas. Meanwhile, those in the northern regions should prepare for sudden showers and possible hail.

The federal capital on Saturday afternoon saw a change in weather as the city was hit by hailstorms and heavy rain, causing traffic disruptions and prompting safety warnings from authorities.

According to the latest Islamabad weather update, dark clouds covered the sky early in the afternoon, followed by heavy rain and large hailstorms in several parts of the city.

Citizens are encouraged to follow updates from the Met Office for timely alerts and safety tips.
