WEBDESK (Azaad English): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts more rainfall together with strong winds and hailstorms, in the weather across Lahore and various Punjab regions during Thursday night through Friday.

The western weather system continues to dominate most Pakistani regions and is projecting an extended period of influence until March 1.

Weather Update for Punjab:

Regular episodes of rain together with strong wind gusts and isolated areas of hailstorms will impact Rawalpindi along with Attock, Jhelum, Gujrat, Chakwal, Mianwali, Faisalabad and Lahore. The weather system could generate heavy rainfall as well as snowfall within Murree and Galliyat.

Based on their warning the PMD predicts that mountains in Murree and Galliyat will face wet conditions which may lead to blocked roads and dangerous slipperiness. Heavy snowfalls in these locations would produce additional challenges for transportation systems.

Friday will bring matching weather patterns to the cities of Lahore and Rawalpindi together with Gujranwala and Sialkot and Narowal. During Friday and Saturday the temperature across Lahore will range between 13°C and 15°C. The coldest point in Punjab will stay in Murree where temperatures are predicted to fall to 1°C.

The metropolitan region of Lahore together with additional parts of Punjab received rainfall and windstorms throughout the previous day. Several regions across the area operated under cold temperatures and persistent clouds. The meteorological authorities collected data showing 7mm of rain in Murree and 2mm in Islamabad and 1mm in both Rawalpindi and Chakwal and Sahiwal.

This marks the comeback of cold weather as Pakistan transitions through a seasonal change.

The PMD has informed people to monitor weather warnings and execute safety practices particularly during trips in hilly regions due to possible road-obstructing snow conditions.
