Defence Minister of Pakistan, Khawaja Asif, while talking to the media on Monday, warned of a high probability of war with India “within the next two or three days.”
Tensions between the two neighbours are at a historic high following the deadly attack in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) last week.
After the Pahalgam attack, Indian government blamed Pakistan for “cross border terrorism” within hours while conducting no investigations or inquiries.
India decided to announce the unilateral suspension of IWT while Pakistan responded by clarifying that any attempts to divert its water would be taken as an act of war.
The militants killed 26 people in the deadliest attack in years in Pahalgam, Occupied Kashmir. Indian authorities have failed to apprehend the militants behind the attack, while it has blamed Pakistan for the attack without any evidence.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said, “We have reinforced our forces because it is something which is imminent now. So in that situation, some strategic decisions have to be taken, so those decisions have been made.”
Asif did not go into details on the reason for thinking a military incursion by the Indian military was imminent.
It merits a mention that the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on April 27, expressed Pakistan’s openness to a neutral and impartial international investigation into the Pahalgam incident.
According to Geo News, Khawaja Asif has denied the statements being attributed to him regarding chances of war within two or three days.
