WEBDESK: The United States (US) State Secretary Marco Rubio has called for calm and cooperation between India and Pakistan following a recent attack in Pahalgam, India. In a phone call with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Secretary Marco Rubio dismissed India’s claim that Pakistan was behind the incident.

The attack in Pahalgam has raised tensions in the region, with Indian officials accusing Pakistan of supporting the attackers. However, Secretary Marco Rubio expressed concern over these allegations and urged both countries to avoid blame and focus on peace instead.

According to reports, Secretary Marco Rubio clearly stated that the US does not support the accusations made by India. He emphasized that such claims could worsen an already fragile situation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

He advised India to conduct a proper investigation while working with Pakistan. The only possibility for progress emerges from open dialogue and joint cooperation instead of hasty inferences according to him. His statement functioned as a request for adults to show their responsibility in both directions.

The US official emphasised the necessity of stability throughout South Asia. The US official predicted escalation of tensions would trigger more destructive conflicts affecting both India and Pakistan and their neighboring area.“We encourage both nations to act with restraint and seek peaceful solutions,” Secretary Marco Rubio reportedly said.

The statement represents a departure from typical Indian claim support positions that Rubio frequently aligns himself with. Specialists view this changed rhetoric as part of America’s plan to maintain healthy ties with both countries in the region.
