WEBDESK: The United States has openly contradicted Indian claim that the latest ceasefire between Pakistan and India came about without any outside involvement.

Speaking at a press briefing in Washington, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce firmly stated, “We stopped the war between Pakistan and India,” pushing back on India’s claims that the agreement was reached purely through bilateral talks.

India’s Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, had earlier told the Indian Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs that both Islamabad and New Delhi had decided to end the hostilities on their own, with no role played by any foreign power.

He also claimed that the conflict had remained limited to conventional means and that neither side considered escalating to nuclear weapons.

Responding to these remarks, Bruce rejected them outright. “It is normal for everyone to have their own opinion, but the negotiations and the position that India is presenting in this regard are wrong,” she said. According to her, US officials had played a hands-on role in easing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Bruce also noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance were both “closely involved in the de-escalation efforts.” She also pointed out that Rubio had “repeatedly said that we played an important role in this ceasefire,” underlining Washington’s claim of direct involvement.

The State Department spokesperson went on to praise the Trump administration’s approach to diplomacy, calling it both transparent and focused on peace.

“President Trump has taken numerous steps for world peace, and his dealings are transparent and clear,” she said. “The world knows how active President Trump is for global stability.”

Bruce’s remarks also touched on other foreign policy efforts by the Trump administration.

She highlighted the United States’ current diplomatic push in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza, where Washington aims to promote a post-Hamas future. Similar efforts, she added, are underway to encourage peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“The administration is acting in the national interest and for global peace,” Bruce said, wrapping up a press interaction that made clear the US’s intention to claim credit for defusing South Asia’s latest military flare-up.

India faces fresh embarrassment as US refutes its claims

India has desperately tried to deny any US involvement in the Pakistan-India ceasefire, however, with US confirmation these attempts are being buried under facts.

What we are witnessing is not just diplomatic spin, it is an international embarrassment. This can also be seen as an addition to the already damaging isolation India has to face.

First India’s Operation Sindoor proved to be a failure. Not only that, but it also exposed the glaring weaknesses in its defence system.

Then, Pakistan’s swift response inflicted significant damage to its reputation.

India is now making efforts to salvage its international reputation. But, again as the US denies the Indian claims, India has received another hit.
