President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, arrived in the United Kingdom (UK) for a summit and met Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer.
The UK has granted a ÂŁ2.26 billion ($2.84 billion) loan to manufacture weapons in Ukraine. Britain stated that the loan would be funded by profits from frozen Russian assets as part of a $50 billion support package pledged by the G7 nations.
He thanked the UK government for its ongoing support since the war began.
“The funds will be directed toward weapons production in Ukraine. I thank the people and government of the United Kingdom for their tremendous support from the very beginning of this war,” he said.
The Ukrainian President is also set to meet King Charles III.
Zelensky warm meet-up with Keir Starmer
Upon arriving at 10 Downing Street, he and Starmer shared a firm hug, following Zelensky’s recent public argument with Donald Trump.
However, the president emphasised, “It’s crucial for us to have President Trump’s support. He wants to end the war, but no one wants peace more than we do.”
Earlier, Trump accused Zelensky of not being grateful enough for US military and political support during Ukraine’s fight against Russia, warning that he was “gambling with World War Three.”
Following the incident, European leaders rallied behind Zelensky.
